About Maple City Music

Maple City Music was founded by Walter Byrne, a U.S. Army veteran with more than 29 years of service and a lifelong passion for music.

Located at 12 Kingman Street in downtown Saint Albans, Vermont, the Maple Capital of New England, Maple City Music is a veteran-owned independent record store for music lovers, collectors, and anyone who believes in music's power to bring people together.

What began as a lifelong passion for collecting grew into an online music store and, ultimately, a dream of creating a real place where people could gather around music. In September 2026, that dream became a reality when Maple City Music opened its doors in downtown Saint Albans.

Today, Maple City Music offers thousands of vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and music collectibles, with new inventory arriving regularly. Whether you're searching for a favorite album, building your first record collection, hunting for an original pressing, or simply discovering something you've never heard before, there's always something new to find in the bins.

More Than a Record Store

Music has always been more than entertainment to us.

Music marks moments in our lives. It preserves memories, connects generations, gets us through difficult times, and gives people from completely different backgrounds something in common.

That belief is at the heart of Maple City Music.

We want the store to be a place where longtime collectors feel at home, new listeners feel welcome, and conversations about music happen naturally. You don't need to know catalog numbers, pressing plants, or matrix codes to walk through our doors. You need to love music.

Veteran-Owned. Vermont Proud.

After more than 29 years of service in the U.S. Army, Walter wanted the next chapter of his life to combine his passion for music with the sense of community and camaraderie that defined much of his military career.

Maple City Music was built around those values: service, integrity, community, and treating people right.

We're proud to call Saint Albans home and to be part of the growing downtown community. We're equally proud to support Vermont musicians, independent artists, fellow veteran-owned businesses, and the people and organizations that make our community stronger.
