Art Pepper + Eleven pairs Pepper with an eleven-piece ensemble performing Marty Paich arrangements of compositions by major figures in modern jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, and Gerry Mulligan. Recorded at Contemporary’s Los Angeles studio during three 1959 sessions, the album features musicians including Russ Freeman, Mel Lewis, Jack Sheldon, Bud Shank, Herb Geller, and Bill Perkins. The original Contemporary album was released in 1960.

This 2022 Contemporary Records / Craft Recordings CR00383 edition is part of the Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds Series. Bernie Grundman handled the all-analog mastering from the original tapes, with BG present in the supplied runouts, and the album was pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings.
