Why This Record Matters
Master Of Reality is Black Sabbath’s third studio album and includes “Sweet Leaf,” “Children Of The Grave,” “Lord Of This World,” and “Into The Void.” Produced by Rodger Bain, the album further developed the heavily down-tuned guitar sound associated with Tony Iommi and became an influential recording in the development of heavy metal.
Collector Note
This 1971 U.S. Warner Bros. Records BS 2562 stereo edition is a Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman pressing with an embossed cover and lacquers cut at Artisan Sound Recorders. Its green labels incorrectly title the album “Masters Of Reality” and list the expanded 11-track program rather than the eight-track presentation used on subsequent U.S. pressings; this copy includes its original inner sleeve.
