Why This Record Matters
Desire is one of Bob Dylan’s defining mid-1970s albums, built around a distinctive ensemble featuring Scarlet Rivera’s violin, Emmylou Harris on backing vocals, and Rob Stoner’s bass. The album opens with “Hurricane” and also includes “Isis,” “One More Cup of Coffee,” and “Sara,” combining narrative songwriting with the sound associated with Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue period. Much of the album was co-written with Jacques Levy, giving Desire a particularly strong emphasis on extended narrative songs.

Collector Note
This U.S. stereo Columbia PC 33893 copy is a confirmed Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman pressing, identified by the stamped “P” and the supplied runouts AL 33893-3L C P / BL 33893-3K C P. The copy includes its original picture inner sleeve with liner notes by Allen Ginsberg and credits. This pressing dates from the album’s original 1976 U.S. release period and provides specific Pitman matrix identification rather than a general PC 33893 pressing designation.
