Why This Tape Matters
Folsom Prison Blues gathers Bobby Bare performances of country, folk, and pop standards, including the title song, “Abilene,” “Blowin' In The Wind,” and “Gotta Travel On.” The collection traces material recorded during Bare’s RCA period and takes its title from his interpretation of the Johnny Cash composition. Its song selection reflects the country-folk crossover repertoire that was a significant part of Bare’s 1960s work.
