Why This CD Matters
Vol I introduced St. Johnsbury musician Russ Hayes’ Bostjan Zupancic: MicroMetal project and its unconventional approach to heavy music. The album applies the 19-EDO microtonal tuning system to progressive and experimental metal, replacing the conventional 12-note octave with 19 equal divisions. Its six-track physical program emphasizes Hayes’ guitar work, composition, and exploration of alternate tonality.
Collector Note
This self-released Vermont CD edition was issued in 2016 and represents the first MicroMetal volume. The physical release contains six tracks, while a later digital edition added “Disappointing Drops.”
