Why This Record Matters
Sings The Wailers revisits songs from Bunny Wailer’s years with The Wailers, including “Dancing Shoes,” “Mellow Mood,” “Dreamland,” and “I’m The Toughest.” Bunny produced the album and recorded it at Harry J’s in Kingston with a formidable Jamaican studio lineup including Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Earl “Chinna” Smith, Sticky Thompson, Dean Fraser, and Winston Wright. The result recasts early Wailers material through the heavier rhythm sound of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
