Why This CD Matters
Originally released in 1971, Tapestry became a defining singer-songwriter album and spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album won four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and features “It’s Too Late,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Produced by Lou Adler, the album helped establish Carole King as a major recording artist after her already successful career as a songwriter.

Collector Note
This 1999 U.S. Ode/Epic/Legacy reissue carries catalog number EK 65850 and was newly mastered by Vic Anesini at Sony Music Studios from the original Ode master tapes. The edition was prepared for CD by Bob Irwin and manufactured by DADC. Its 14-track program expands the original album with the previously unreleased “Out In The Cold” from the Tapestry sessions and a previously unreleased 1973 live performance of “Smackwater Jack.”
