Why This CD Matters
Originally released in 1975, Chicago's Greatest Hits collects 11 recordings from the band's early Columbia period, including “25 Or 6 To 4,” “Saturday In The Park,” “Make Me Smile,” and “Beginnings.” The compilation showcases Chicago's signature combination of rock songwriting and a prominent horn section built around Walter Parazaider, James Pankow, and Lee Loughnane. James William Guercio produced the recordings, with the collection spanning material from the group's commercially successful early-1970s catalog.

Collector Note
This 1987 U.S. Columbia CD edition carries catalog number CK 33900 and barcode 0 7464-33900-2. The disc was pressed in Japan by Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. for the U.S. market, distinguishing it from later domestic pressings of the same catalog title. This early CD edition retains the original 11-track compilation sequence, including the 7:51 version of “Beginnings.”
