Recorded at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin in November 1973, Live From Deep In The Heart Of Texas documents Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen's mix of country rock, western swing, rock and roll, and roots music in a live setting. The album was recorded by Wally Heider and produced by Steve Jarvis, with cover artwork by Jim Franklin. The set includes "Down To Seeds And Stems Again Blues," "Too Much Fun," and "Riot In Cell Block #9."

This 1974 US Paramount Records PAS 1017 edition was pressed by PRC Recording Company in Richmond, Indiana, identified by the PRC markings in the supplied runouts. It uses the blue Paramount label and carries the PAS 1017 catalog number on the sleeve.
