Why This Record Matters
On her second solo album after Wolf Den, Danielle Nicole leads a blues-rock set with her own vocals and bass, produced by drummer Tony Braunagel. “Crawl,” “Hot Spell,” and the title track show the album’s blend of blues-rooted songwriting and soul, while her version of Prince’s “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore” adds a familiar song to the set. Cry No More was nominated for the 2019 GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
