Young Americans marked a major stylistic shift for David Bowie, moving away from the glam-rock sound of his earlier records toward the soul and R&B influences he explored during the mid-1970s. This is a 1975 U.S. RCA Victor Indianapolis pressing carrying catalog number APL1-0998 and the tan RCA labels associated with this first-pressing variation. The supplied runouts contain the stamped Indianapolis “I” and MCR identification for Master Cutting Room: APL1-0998-A-20S I MCR A1 and APL1-0998-B-10S I MCR A6. Unlike a later reissue, this tan-label Indianapolis edition is a contemporary 1975 first pressing, and this copy retains its confirmed original inner sleeve.
