Why This Tape Matters
Crazy From The Heat was David Lee Roth’s first solo release, issued while he was still associated with Van Halen, and was produced by longtime Van Halen producer Ted Templeman. The four-song EP includes Roth’s versions of “California Girls” and the “Just A Gigolo” medley, both of which became major solo hits. Its stylistic range established the theatrical, pop-oriented direction of Roth’s early solo work.

Collector Note
This 1985 U.S. Warner Bros. cassette edition carries WB 9 25222-4 B on the spine and 4-25222 on the cassette. This configuration features Dolby HX Pro and the SR pressing-plant identification and was duplicated by Specialty Records Corporation. The four-song program pairs “Easy Street” and “Just A Gigolo” on Side A with “California Girls” and “Coconut Grove” on Side B.
