Why This Record Matters
New Traditionalists is Devo’s fourth studio album and includes “Through Being Cool,” “Jerkin' Back 'N' Forth,” and “Beautiful World.” Devo produced the album, with sessions and mixing work at the Power Station in New York and additional mixing at the Record Plant in Los Angeles. The record continued the band’s early-1980s combination of new wave, synthesizers, electronic rhythms, and guitar-driven rock.
