Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! was Devo’s 1978 debut album and established the band’s distinctive combination of new wave, art rock, electronics, and deliberately deconstructed pop. Produced by Brian Eno, the album includes “Uncontrollable Urge,” “Mongoloid,” “Jocko Homo,” and Devo’s radical reworking of the Rolling Stones’ “(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.” Most of the album was recorded at Conny Plank’s studio in Cologne, Germany, with “Come Back Jonee” and “Shrivel-Up” recorded at Different Fur Studios in San Francisco.

This 1978 U.S. Warner Bros. Records BSK 3239 edition is the Goldisc Recording Products pressing, identified by the supplied GoL markings in the runouts. Its deadwax also carries the album’s call-and-response concept, with “Q: ARE WE NOT MEN?” etched on Side A and “A: WE ARE DEVO!” on Side B. This copy includes the original inner sleeve.
