My Aim Is True introduced Elvis Costello with a debut that became a key release in the late-1970s transition from pub rock into new wave. Produced by Nick Lowe, the album includes “Alison,” “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,” and “Less Than Zero,” with the U.S. configuration adding “Watching The Detectives.” Costello was backed on the original album sessions by members of the American band Clover, establishing the compact arrangements behind his early songwriting.

This is the first U.S. Columbia JC 35037 configuration with the distinctive yellow rear cover, preceding subsequent issues with a white rear sleeve. The supplied P-stamped matrices, P AL 35037-2A and P BL 35037-2D, identify this copy as a Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman pressing. Released November 1, 1977, this U.S. edition contains 13 tracks, including “Watching The Detectives,” which was not part of the original 12-track UK LP configuration.
