Works - Volume 1 expanded Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s progressive-rock format by devoting major sections to the individual work of Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, and Carl Palmer before bringing the trio together. Its centerpiece recordings include Emerson’s “Piano Concerto No. 1,” the group’s adaptation of Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare For The Common Man,” and the extended “Pirates.” The original album was released in 1977.
