Originally released in 1977, Works - Volume 2 collects material showcasing Emerson, Lake & Palmer across progressive rock, jazz-influenced arrangements, and adaptations of earlier compositions. The program includes Greg Lake’s “I Believe In Father Christmas,” Keith Emerson’s interpretations of Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” and Meade “Lux” Lewis’ “Honky Tonk Train Blues,” and the ELP composition “Brain Salad Surgery.” It followed Works - Volume 1 as the second Works release of 1977.
