Why This CD Matters
Watermark was Enya’s international breakthrough and established the layered vocal and atmospheric production approach that became central to her subsequent work. The album includes “Orinoco Flow (Sail Away),” the worldwide hit that brought her music to a broad pop audience. Enya worked closely with producer and arranger Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan, combining multitracked vocals, keyboards, traditional instrumentation, and New Age textures.

This January 1989 U.S. Geffen Records CD carries catalog number 9 24233-2 and barcode 075992423328. This initial U.S. Geffen CD pressing contains the original 11-track program without the later-added “Storms In Africa II” and was glass mastered by DADC under DIDX-004262. Barry Diament is credited with mastering, while Ross Cullum served as co-producer and engineer and Nicky Ryan as producer and arranger.
