Why This Record Matters
“Relax” was Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s breakthrough single and became one of the defining British synth-pop records of the 1980s. Produced by Trevor Horn, the recording pairs electronic production with Holly Johnson’s lead vocal and the band’s dance-oriented approach. This 12-inch release includes the 7:20 long version alongside the 7-inch and instrumental versions.

Collector Note
This 1984 U.S. Island Records 0-96975 12-inch is a Specialty Records Corporation pressing with the -SP label suffix and stamped SRC markings. The supplied variant 1 runouts also carry stamped STERLING mastering marks, and this edition uses the original two-person picture sleeve with Island “Giant 45” labels.
