George Winston – Forest (CD, Album, 1994, Windham Hill Records / Dancing Cat Records)

Why This CD Matters
Forest is George Winston’s sixth solo-piano album and one of the defining releases of his rural folk-piano style. The album was certified Gold and won the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album, blending Winston originals with interpretations of works by Howard Blake, William Bolcom, Vince Guaraldi, and others.

Collector Note
This early 1994 US pressing was manufactured by KAO Optical Products and predates the use of SID codes. Mastered by Bernie Grundman, it includes three pieces from Howard Blake’s The Snowman and the traditional Japanese lullaby “Itsuki No Komoriuta.”
