Why This Record Matters
Bridges is a 1977 collaboration between Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson that combines Scott-Heron’s socially focused writing with Jackson’s jazz-funk arrangements. The album includes “We Almost Lost Detroit,” a song addressing the 1966 partial nuclear meltdown at the Fermi 1 reactor, alongside “Racetrack In France” and “95 South (All Of The Places We've Been).”
Collector Note
US Arista LP issued in December 1977 under catalog number AB 4147, with the black-label variation placing the artist and title above the spindle hole and omitting a stereo designation. Kendun-marked lacquers were cut by Malcolm Cecil, and this copy includes the original inner sleeve.
