Serious Thing was the Gladiators’ second album for Nighthawk Records and continued the group’s roots-reggae focus on cultural and social commentary. Recorded and mixed at Harry J’s Recording Studio, the album combines new material such as “Serious Thing,” “My Thoughts,” and “FreedomTrain” with new recordings of the earlier Gladiators songs “Rearrange” and “Fling It Gimme.”

1984 US pressing manufactured by Wakefield Manufacturing, identified by the Wakefield name, WM logo, and job number 43686 in both runouts. The album features founding member Albert Griffiths on lead vocals and rhythm guitar and was recorded and mixed by Sylvan Morris. The jacket was manufactured in Canada.
