Why This Record Matters
GTR brought together guitarists Steve Howe of Yes and Asia and Steve Hackett of Genesis in a new band built around their contrasting guitar styles. The 1986 album was produced by Geoff Downes and features Max Bacon on lead vocals, with “When The Heart Rules The Mind” becoming the group’s best-known song. Instrumental tracks “Sketches In The Sun” and “Hackett To Bits” also give Howe and Hackett individual showcases within the album.
