Connick composed the music throughout the album, with lyrics primarily by Ramsey McLean, and the sessions were recorded in New Orleans and Los Angeles with additional recording in New York. The album includes “(I Could Only) Whisper Your Name,” which became one of Connick’s notable recordings of the 1990s.
