Iron Butterfly – In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo, 1969, ATCO Records SD 33-250)

Why This Record Matters
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida became Iron Butterfly’s breakthrough album, reaching number four on the Billboard 200 and establishing the group as a cornerstone of late-1960s psychedelic rock. Its second side is devoted entirely to the hypnotic 17-minute title track, featuring Doug Ingle’s organ riff and Ron Bushy’s extended drum solo.

Collector Note
1969 US reissue on ATCO’s yellow label with the 1841 Broadway rim address and gold “Gold Record Award” cover sticker. Both sides were cut at Atlantic Studios by Al Brown, identified by the etched “AT” and “aB” markings in the runouts.
