Jean-Luc Ponty – Imaginary Voyage (CD, Album, Reissue, Atlantic 19136-2)

Why This CD Matters
Ponty’s 1976 album puts electric violin at the center of a melodic jazz-fusion band, shifting from the lively “New Country” to more spacious instrumental passages. The 20-minute title composition unfolds in four parts, with layered keyboards, guitars, bass, and percussion. “The Gardens Of Babylon” and “Wandering On The Milky Way” show the album’s range, from full-band interplay to solo violin.
