Jeff Beck Group – Jeff Beck Group (CD, Album, Reissue, Epic – EK 31331 / 31331)

Why This CD Matters
Jeff Beck Group captures Beck moving beyond the soul-rock approach of the band’s earlier work toward a heavier sound that points toward his later jazz-rock direction. Produced by Steve Cropper, the album combines blues rock with a strong Memphis soul influence. “Ice Cream Cakes” opens the record, and “Going Down” became one of Beck’s best-known live songs.

Collector Note
This US Epic CD reissue presents the nine-track album originally released in 1972. Its credits include Jeff Beck on guitar, Bob Tench on vocals, and Cozy Powell on drums, with production by Steve Cropper. The CD uses catalog numbers EK 31331 and 31331.
