Why This Record Matters
There & Back continued Jeff Beck’s instrumental fusion period, combining rock guitar with jazz-rock and electronic textures. The album features Jan Hammer, Tony Hymas, Simon Phillips, and Mo Foster, with Beck and Ken Scott sharing production duties. Tracks including “Star Cycle,” “The Pump,” and “Space Boogie” became notable pieces of Beck’s instrumental catalog.
