Why This Record Matters
Benefit was Jethro Tull’s third studio album and marked a heavier transition from the blues-oriented sound of the group’s earlier records. Ian Anderson produced the album and wrote its material, with Martin Barre, Glenn Cornick, Clive Bunker, and John Evan contributing to the sessions. This U.S. configuration includes “Teacher,” one of the better-known songs associated with the album.

Collector Note
This is the 1973 U.S. Chrysalis CHR 1043 reissue pressed by Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman, identified by the stamped P in the runouts. The supplied matrices are CHR-1043 31051 > on Side 1 and CHR-1043 31052-2 on Side 2, with the jacket carrying the earlier Reprise/Warner Bros. information on the lower back cover.
