Why This Record Matters
Stand Up is Jethro Tull’s second studio album and the first to feature guitarist Martin Barre, establishing the lineup and musical direction that carried the band into the 1970s. The album includes “A New Day Yesterday,” “Nothing Is Easy,” and the band’s adaptation of Bach’s “Bourée.” Ian Anderson wrote the album’s material and expanded the group’s blues-rock foundation with folk, jazz, classical, and progressive-rock elements.

Collector Note
This is the 1969 U.S. Reprise Records RS 6360 stereo Pitman pressing with the two-tone W7 Reprise labels and distinctive pop-up gatefold sleeve. The supplied Variant 4 runouts carry the Pitman pressing identifier and matrix numbers 30934/30935 associated with this U.S. edition. The elaborate gatefold uses Jimmy Grashow’s woodcut artwork and opens to display the pop-up band illustration.
