Why This Record Matters
Walk Under Ladders was produced by Steve Lillywhite and features contributions from musicians including Tony Levin, Jerry Marotta, Ray Cooper, Thomas Dolby, Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, and Andy Partridge. The album includes “I'm Lucky” and “The Weakness In Me,” with all ten songs written by Joan Armatrading. Recorded at the Town House in London in July 1981, it reflects Armatrading’s early-1980s move toward a more contemporary pop-rock production.
