Joe Jackson – I'm The Man (LP, Album, Stereo, Pitman Pressing, 1979, A&M Records SP-4794)

Why This Record Matters
Released in 1979 as the follow-up to Look Sharp!, the album captures the original Joe Jackson Band—Jackson, Graham Maby, Gary Sanford, and Dave Houghton—in its tight new-wave sound. The brisk title track sits alongside the more reflective “It’s Different for Girls” and “The Band Wore Blue Shirts.” That mix of fast power-pop and sharper character-driven songs gives the album its own identity within Jackson’s early work.
Collector Note
The Side A runout’s final “P” matches the plant mark for the Columbia Records pressing plant in Pitman, identifying this US copy as the Pitman pressing. Its original illustrated inner sleeve is included, with lyrics, credits, and release information.
