Leonard Bernstein conducts the Wiener Philharmoniker in Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, Op. 68, one of the central symphonic works of the Romantic repertoire. The performance was recorded live at Vienna’s Musikverein in October 1981. It formed part of Bernstein’s Deutsche Grammophon cycle of the four Brahms symphonies with the Vienna Philharmonic.

This early Deutsche Grammophon digital CD edition carries catalog number 410 081-2 and barcode 028941008121. The disc was made in West Germany, and the recording was produced by Hanno Rinke with Hans Weber serving as recording supervisor.
