Jonathan Richman – Jonathan Goes Country (LP, Album, Record Store Day, Limited Edition, Reissue, Red, 2023, Craft Recordings CR00627)

Why This Record Matters
Jonathan Richman’s 1990 album takes his direct, personal songwriting into country, mixing originals with songs associated with Tammy Wynette, Marty Robbins, and Skeeter Davis. The sessions feature steel guitarist Tom Brumley, known for his work with Buck Owens and the Buckaroos.

Collector Note
This 2023 Record Store Day release was the album’s first vinyl reissue and is limited to 4,500 copies worldwide. Kevin Gray mastered the original tapes and cut the lacquer at Cohearent Audio; the red “Cowboy Boots” vinyl was plated at RTI.
