Why This CD Matters
Tubular Bells was Mike Oldfield’s debut album and the inaugural album release on Virgin Records in 1973. Built around two extended instrumental compositions, the album combines progressive rock, folk, and modern classical elements through extensive overdubbing and multi-instrumental performances by Oldfield. An excerpt from “Part One” became closely associated with the 1973 film The Exorcist, bringing the album to a much wider audience.

Collector Note
This U.S. Virgin CD reissue carries catalog numbers V2-86007 and 0777 7 86007 2 5 with barcode 077778600725. This edition was manufactured by Capitol Records and pressed by Capitol Jax during the 1987–1993 period. The two-track stereo program retains the original album structure, and this edition was issued with pre-emphasis applied.
