Mozart – Piano Concertos Nos. 19 & 20 (CD, 1990, CBS)

Why This CD Matters
Rudolf Serkin and conductor George Szell recorded these Mozart concertos with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra in April 1961. The pairing contrasts the bright lyricism of the F-major Concerto No. 19 with the dramatic minor-key writing of Concerto No. 20, one of Mozart’s most celebrated piano concertos.

Collector Note
This 1990 US reissue is part of the CBS Great Performances series. Producer Howard H. Scott, who produced the original sessions, also remixed the recordings for this CD edition.
