Sugar Mountain documents Neil Young’s solo acoustic performances at Canterbury House in Ann Arbor on November 9 and 10, 1968, shortly after his departure from Buffalo Springfield. The program combines early solo material with Buffalo Springfield songs and preserves Young’s spoken introductions and between-song commentary. It was issued as Disc 00 of the Neil Young Archives Performance Series.

This 2008 UK & Europe Reprise Records edition carries catalog number 9362-49839-8 and pairs an HDCD with an NTSC DVD containing the full audio program in high-resolution 24/96 audio plus a Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 trailer. The recordings received analog restoration and digital transfer by John Nowland, with digital editing and mastering by Tim Mulligan.
