Why This Record Matters
Homosapien was Pete Shelley’s first full-length release following the breakup of Buzzcocks and marked a pronounced move toward electronic pop. Produced and engineered by Shelley with Martin Rushent, the album combines Shelley’s songwriting with synthesizers and electronic production techniques that Rushent was developing during the period. The title track became one of Shelley’s best-known solo recordings.

This UK Genetic Records ILPS 9676 pressing was manufactured and distributed by Island Records and pressed by EMI Records. The supplied -1U runouts on both sides carry stamped TOWNHOUSE markings, identifying mastering at The Town House. This copy includes the original inner sleeve.
