Shaking The Tree (Sixteen Golden Greats) surveys Peter Gabriel’s solo work from his 1977 debut through material associated with Passion and So. The compilation includes “Solsbury Hill,” “Sledgehammer,” “Games Without Frontiers,” “Shock The Monkey,” “Red Rain,” and “Biko.” It also features a 1990 recording of “Here Comes The Flood,” a remixed and newly voiced version of “Shaking The Tree,” and the 1983 remix of “I Have The Touch.”
Collector Note
This U.S. Geffen Records club edition carries catalog number 9 24326-2 and BMG Direct Marketing number D 111089. This later BMG club variant was made by WEA Manufacturing and pressed by Specialty Records Corporation, with the Specialty “S” logo identifying the pressing. Compilation and additional recording were completed at Real World Studios, and the edition was issued with a 16-track program spanning Gabriel’s solo catalog.
