Why This Record Matters
Phoebe Snow’s 1974 self-titled debut introduced her distinctive vocal and acoustic-guitar style and includes “Poetry Man,” the song that became her best-known early recording. Snow wrote seven of the album’s nine tracks, while the sessions brought together musicians including Bob James, Zoot Sims, David Bromberg, Dave Mason, Ralph MacDonald, and Teddy Wilson. Phil Ramone co-produced and engineered the album alongside producer Dino Airali.
