Atom Heart Mother marked Pink Floyd’s move further into extended progressive-rock composition, with its first side devoted to the six-part title suite created with composer Ron Geesin. The album also includes Roger Waters’ “If,” Richard Wright’s “Summer ’68,” David Gilmour’s “Fat Old Sun,” and the collaborative “Alan’s Psychedelic Breakfast.” It was recorded at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, with engineering credited to Peter Bown and Alan Parsons.
