Why This Record Matters
Silk Torpedo is the Pretty Things’ seventh studio album and a key release in Swan Song’s 1974 launch: it was the label’s first UK album release, while Bad Company’s debut was its first U.S. album. It also became the Pretty Things’ first LP to chart on the U.S. Billboard 200. Produced by Norman Smith, it captures the band’s layered mid-1970s rock sound on tracks including “Joey” and “Atlanta.”

Collector Note
This 1974 U.S. edition is Swan Song SS 8411, a Presswell pressing in a gatefold sleeve. The “PR” plant mark appears in the runouts, alongside “PORKY” on Side A and “PECKO” on Side B, George Peckham’s cutting signatures.
