Why This Record Matters
1999 pairs the concise pop hooks of “Little Red Corvette” and “Delirious” with extended funk workouts including “D.M.S.R.,” “Automatic,” and “Lady Cab Driver.” Its synthesizers, programmed rhythms, and guitar work capture the Minneapolis sound across four sides, with Prince credited as producer, arranger, composer, and performer.
Collector Note
1982 US Specialty Records Corporation double-LP pressing, with SP runout identifiers and mastering credited to Bernie Grundman at A&M Mastering Studios. This edition has the Side B label misprint “Made in S A” in the upper text. Both original lyric inner sleeves are included.
