Why This CD Matters
Whenever You Need Somebody is Rick Astley’s debut album and the record that established his international career through the Stock Aitken Waterman production team. It contains “Never Gonna Give You Up,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, along with “Together Forever,” another US No. 1, and the Top 10 hit “It Would Take A Strong Strong Man.” The album itself reached No. 10 in the US and No. 1 in the UK, making it the defining commercial release of Astley’s early career.
