Why This CD Matters
Raising Sand brought Robert Plant and Alison Krauss together with producer T Bone Burnett for a roots-oriented collection drawing from folk, country, blues, and rock traditions. The album won five awards at the 2009 Grammys, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Please Read The Letter.” Its arrangements place the two singers alongside musicians including Marc Ribot, Norman Blake, Dennis Crouch, Jay Bellerose, and Burnett himself.

This 2007 US Rounder Records edition carries catalog number 11661-9075-2 and comes in the original tri-fold Digipak with cardboard O-card. Gavin Lurssen mastered the album at Lurssen Mastering, while Mike Piersante recorded and mixed the sessions under T Bone Burnett’s production. The 13-track program includes “Killing The Blues,” “Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On),” “Please Read The Letter,” and “Your Long Journey.”
