Why This Record Matters
Rubber Rodeo emerged from Providence, Rhode Island, combining new wave instrumentation with country-and-western influences and imagery. This six-track EP includes the band’s interpretation of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” “Tumblin' Tumbleweeds,” and four Bob Holmes compositions. The EP preceded the band’s later Mercury Records albums and broader exposure during the 1980s.

Collector Note
This 1982 U.S. six-track 12-inch EP was issued by Eat Records as EATUM EP 009 and plays at 45 RPM. The supplied runouts feature the inscriptions “IT DON'T MEAN A THANG...” and “...IF IT AINT GOT THAT TWANG.” This copy includes the original poly-lined inner sleeve rubber-stamped “Approved by Rubber Rodeo.”
