Sallie Ford – Slap Back (Vinyl, LP, Album, Limited Edition, Splattered, 2014, Vanguard 78420-1)

Why This Record Matters
Slap Back was Sallie Ford’s first album under her own name after the Sound Outside split, introducing the all-female backing band she had wanted to form. Produced by Chris Funk, the record moves toward a fuzzier blend of surf, garage, and classic rock, heard in tracks like “Coulda Been” and “Dive In.” Ford described friendship as a central theme, especially in “Hey Girl” and “An Ending.”

Collector Note
This Vanguard pressing features baby blue, purple, and magenta splatter vinyl and was limited to 1,000 copies. The release credits Chris Funk as producer and Roger Seibel for mastering at SAE Mastering; the sealed copy’s runout has not been inspected.
