Styx – Pieces Of Eight (CD, 1987, A&M Records CD 3224 / 75021 3224 2, US Reissue)

Why This CD Matters
Originally released in 1978, Pieces Of Eight followed The Grand Illusion and continued Styx’s late-1970s commercial breakthrough, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The album produced three charting singles: “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man (Long Nights),” and “Sing For The Day,” with Tommy Shaw writing and singing all three. Produced by Styx, the album balances the band’s hard-rock side with the keyboards, synthesizers, vocal harmonies, and progressive arrangements central to their classic-era sound.
