Why This Record Matters
Stratosfear captures Tangerine Dream's Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann lineup combining synthesizers, Mellotron, electronic rhythm equipment, and acoustic and electric instrumentation. Recorded in August 1976 at Audio Studios in Berlin, the album consists of four extended compositions. The record continued the group's influential 1970s Berlin School electronic period.

Collector Note
This US Virgin PZ 34427 stereo issue is a Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman pressing in a gatefold cover, with the stamped “P” in the runouts identifying the plant. The lacquer was cut at Atlantic Studios by George Piros, whose “@tGP” marking appears in the supplied runout information.
